The Town Cultural Center

The town authorities want to make sure that culture and education systems function properly. In order to improve the quality of education and to make school and kindergarten finances more efficient the so called education bonus has been introduced.
Each school child has been granted 186 PLN and each kindergarten child - 168 PLN (valid for 1999). 
It is worth noting that only few towns in Poland have such an efficient and just system of financing schools.

    Miejski Ośrodek Kultury(The City Centre of Culture) is a local cultural facility. It exists since 1st March 1993. Efforts of this institution are focused on tutorial work with children and youth. Currently MOK supports: A vocal band (children and youth group), Teatr Słowa(The Theatre of Word), Pantomime Theatre „Sileo”, Children Theatre „Puk-Puk”(Knock-Knock), Chess Club „Huzar”, Cardboard Models Workshop, Artistic Group „Pod błekitną paletą”(Under the blue palette), youth music bands: „OIOM”, „Prorock” and „1017”, „Świdnicki Teatr Tańca i Baletu”(The Dance and Ballet Theatre of Świdnik), Modern Dance Group, men choir „Arion”. Also individual vocal classes and annual vocal workshops are organised. There is a chess club for adults as well.

MOK organises many artistic events: local (i.e. Przegląd Kolęd i Pastorałek),regional(i.e. National Reciting Contest, Reviev of Children and Youth Theatre Groups, Reviev of Children`s Song, painting contests: Eastern and Christmas topics), national (i.e. Festival of Poetic Song „Jesień z Poezją”(„Autumn with Poetry”) and international (Świdnik Jazz Festival).

MOK organises annual fetes called „Dni Świdnika”(„The Days of Świdnik”), sport & leisure fetes and integrational events. It also provides a cinema offer („Lot” cinema).
